Privacy, in plain words

The short version
FreeReads collects nothing. There are no accounts, no sign-up forms, no analytics on this site, and no cookies of our own. We can't identify you, because we never ask who you are.
What your browser stores
Three small things, all on your device:
- freereads.saved (localStorage) — the list of books you pressed "Save" on,
- freereads.prefs (localStorage) — your theme, text size, and which books you finished,
- freereads.adsDismissed (sessionStorage) — so a dismissed notice stays dismissed until you close the tab.
None of this leaves your device. It is not sent to any server, because there is no server. It is readable only by this site in this browser, and it disappears when you clear your browser data.
No account required
Reading, listening, sharing, and saving all work without an account. There is nothing to delete, because there is nothing to delete it from.
About ads
FreeReads is free and plans to stay that way, supported by advertising. Ad placeholders are built in today, but no ad code is running yet. If real ads are added later, they may involve third-party cookies or similar tracking from the ad provider, and this page will be updated to describe exactly what loads and how to opt out. That's a promise: the honest version of this page will always live here.
Contact
There is no contact form, because a contact form would need somewhere to send your message — and we keep no such thing. If that ever changes, this page will describe exactly what is collected and why, before it goes live.
